The Youth Project:
This program, functioning since 2004, targeting Bedouin Junior High School girls (7th-9th grades), highlights the importance and value of higher education for Bedouin women and encourage them to take an active part in the process of their own education.
The aims of the project are the development of the ambition, independence and life skills as well as spoken English (as a crucial tool of entering and succeeding in the academic world and in the modern working environment) and the reinforcement of positive parental involvement that supports higher education.
An ultimate aim of the project is to increase the number of Bedouin women studying in the Academia that apply themselves and study the subjects needed by the Bedouin community and are involved socially within the community.
The program was developed by a Bedouin clinical social worker, and takes place in two Bedouin junior high-schools, in Hura and Tel-Sheva. This is a 3-year program, adapted to 3 years of adolescence.  30-50 students take part in this program annually. This program is headed by a Bedouin woman coordinator and a professional counsel.
Program components:
  1. social: special study sessions focusing on education, leadership skills, gender and identity, strengthening self-image and commitment to social involvement in order to bring about social change through higher education.
  2. Learning: reinforcing English learning with an emphasis on spoken English.
  3. Parental involvement: involving parents in the planning and participation.
